History of the project:
From 2009 to 2011On-Farm Management of AgroBiodiversity DataBase (OFMAB-DB) was developed by MT, YdO, IG and JD to store data in a reliable way during research programs dedicated to the study of dynamic management of crop diversity within experimental stations and farmer networks (Réseau Semences Paysannes). The aim of this database was to gather growing practices, phenotypic and genotypic information. according to a relational information system. OFMAB-DB was developed using the Base environment (Open Office). Massive data were loaded using scripts developed by YdO.
From 2011 to 2013
OFMAB-DB (Open Office) migrated to SHiNeMaS (postgreSQL) and has evolved in a participatory plant breeding program involving INRA Le Moulon and the Réseau Semences Paysannes (RSP) on bread wheat. PR, based on discussions with farmers' organisations' facilitators, farmers and researchers participating in the program (MT, JD, IG and SJP), worked with YdO, DM and ML on the development of SHiNeMaS database and web interface. This worked was implemented within the SOLIBAM and SPEAL projects.
From 2014 to 2017
Farmers' organisation facilitators informed on their specific needs for their data management, involving other species than bread wheat. Specific developments were performed to fit the farmers' organisations' needs belonging to RSP, especially cereals, maize and forage. LB, PR, SJP, IG, GVF and YdO worked on this part. A development version is under test. Trainee periods and fix-term contracts were funded. These actions were conducted within ProABioDiv, SPEAL, Ecoagri, FdF and DIVERSIFOOD projects.
